Loved by millions as Rachel from Friends, Jennifer Aniston is giving Movies another shot playing Mark Wahlberg's girlfriend in Rock Star. Here she talks about Brad, music and the end of that sitcom.

  Jennifer Aniston pulls up in her silver Jag. She is late. To make amends, she waves as she parks. Were at Tower records, on Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood. Inside, Aniston pulls out a crumpled piece of fax paper from her bag. on it she has scrawled a hand-written list. For a famous person she is unconcerned that she is undisguised in a small store with narrow aisles. We walk down a Rock/Pop/Soul isle. "I haven't been in here in like, 10 years, she says. the last time I came people freaked next to me".

  Aniston isn't talking about fan freak outs, but the street lunatic variety. "I attract that", she said. "Once in New York, I must have been in the 11th grade, and there was this big homeless guy who looked like Santa (she puffs out here cheeks and makes a big gut with her hands. everyone's walking by him, then I come by, and he slugs me in the face! no one wants to get hit by Santa, so everyone waked on by." A few moments later a suspicious looking guy makes a beeline past three other customers, then tries to sell Aniston a $25 gift card. he'll give it to her for $20. She grins faintly, "no thanks dude", she says, "I'm all set."

  That's an understatement. Aniston, 32 and Brad Pitt, 37 have been married now for one year and recently celebrated their anniversary by moving into a $15,000,000 Malibu mansion. With each friend earning $750,000 an episode Aniston is among the highest paid TV actresses. She was also nominated for an Emmy for her role as Rachel. For Aniston the nomination is a validation.

  Rachel began the show as a spoilt rich girl but now the Friends have seemed to morph into a uni friend. Rachel's distinguishing trait is also hers: they are both very funny. A deft physical comedian she used her body to deliver jokes - flashing a big eye, steeling her jaw, furrowing her brow or gesturing.

  She tells a story about how Jenna Bush - the bush daughter whose underage drinking proved embarrassing - had an internship at the management firm where she and brad are represented. "we'd pass her in the hall and Brad would say, heeyy jenna wanna beer, I got one in the truck."

  Aniston's comedic talents are all the more interesting when you consider that she is a sex symbol. quite a switch for someone who insists she was an ugly ducking. as a chubby kid growing up in New York she soon developed d a thick skin to cope and a sense of humor.

  "its a cliché - comedian's are tortured souls who are trying to make people like them and all that stuff". Still, spend time with Aniston - who famously shed 30 lbs for her role in friends and you notice her jokes are self deprecating "I was a big old fat wuss" she confesses.

  she may be a hot chick - but she carries herself as the class clown, which is an endearing combination. The homeless and insane sense this and there fore are unafraid of her. she is in her funny and affable way the opposite of untouchable.

  We are record shopping as we want her to talk about music after all she is in rock star her new film, she stars the girlfriend and manager of heavy metal god played by Wahlberg "I'm musically ignorant", she says. "I'm going to embarrass myself here - I used to listen to the sex pistols but I don't think I ever really like them, but i know they are worshipped!" she goes on to say " I thought that it would get me accepted, being the fat kid and all, well not fat but ... "

  When she asked Pitt how top play the part he offered words of Zen advice: "be Sting". "Y'know the way Sting's so sexy and he's just there, like he doesn't have to try at all. So I though Sting huh? ok ill try it".

  The next day I went over to Warner Brothers in Burbank, where Friends is filmed. co star Matthew Perry who knew Aniston before Friends has watched her grow and mature over the past decade. "We shot into the public eye together", he says "I don't cope with it as well as Jenny - she does it very well. I saw her change and do some hard work on herself, she really is a deeper soul".

  Much of this is a tribute to her husband. They met casually in 1994 as they're manager's were friends. "He was just this sweet guy from Missouri". Having broken up with their respective partner's (Tate Donovan and Gwenth Paltrow) they're managers set up a date - five moths later they were engaged and married on July 29th last year

  "I had the typical jitters before my wedding but the day of it I was just exited, she says. "The nice thing about weddings now is that its not just a chick thing but a team effort. It used to be the men grumbling why are you making me do this? there nothing more moving than seeing a man cry at his wedding".

  She goes on "My friends were all supportive, but at first they were like, "I hope that he's not a conceited asshole! But brad just disarmed them in five minutes, he is a beautiful human being."

  As a bride of one year Aniston exudes contentment. "When we argue it cannot be like, "screw you, I'm outta here" - we are in it for the long haul, that's the beauty of it".

  Since her marriage she had become the target of tabloid rumors including accusations of drug taking. "that's a funny one - me and my husband hooked on drugs! then, you read the story and it says you smoke pot - I mean pot! c'mon its not cocaine or heroin".

  She says, "I'm not going to confirm whether its true or not (pause) I mean I enjoy it once in a while (pause). There's nothing wrong with it, everything in moderation". She continues, "I wouldn't call myself a pot head (pause). Can we change the subject please? my parents will be reading". after her success she still remains humble and unaffected.

  she even remains start struck, revealing a time when she met Simon Le Bon from Duran Duran. "Brad and I ran into him in a store in Santa Monica. I was looking at something and Brad was like, "dude ya gotta come see this", I was like, "what?" then like, "oh my god". "I went up to him and was like, i waited in a hotel for you! He backed away going, "uh, great story, bust that one out on Leno!"

  Aniston possesses no arrogance either. "I do not expect anyone to give me a role just because I have name value I want to prove myself. I'm not a good auditioner though", she shrugs, "I mess up then you know its Rachel from Friend's".

  just before friends first episode, she recalls a trip to Las Vegas when she and her co stars were told there lives would change forever she says, "We were like, "yeah, yeah, yeah". Does she recall anything else from the early days?

  "Its hard to remember, its all to long ago it feels like forever. Eight years man, that's longer than high school or any relationship your likely to have, I mean I can say I cant wait for this thing to be over but next fall? we will all be a mess".

  She goes on, "filming the last series was that little bit more special when we saw each other after the break. "Schwimmer was going", "I don't think we understand what happening here, this is it. its sad."
