Isla Fisher "Very Close" To Marrying Sasha Baron Cohen

Confessions of a Shopaholic star Isla Fisher assures people that she will marry longtime boyfriend Sasha Baron Cohen. After seven years of dating and a one-and-a-half year old daughter, Olive, Isla tells Allure magazine that she and Sasha are finally ready.

'We are going to get married, really, really, even more now than ever,' she says. 'We have been talking about it and we have been very close, but it has been difficult to plan.' "

I guess so, between having a baby, filming Confessions of a Shopaholic and all of Sasha's projects! Despite everything going on in their lives, Isla knows what she wants in her wedding and that she wants it to be private.

'It is very important to me to have a beautiful ritual celebrated with all my family and friends, and to feel part of a community,' she adds. 'And when you are in the public eye, to keep that private and to make it happen without it being really visible is really difficult.' "

In preparation for her marriage, Isla even converted from the Methodist church to Judaism, even taking the Hebrew name Ayala.

'I never saw it as a losing or gaining situation, just an embracing situation,' she adds. 'I think if one wanted to be buried next to one's beloved and they were Jewish, then one would have to be Jewish, too.' "

('That came out really weird,' she then jokes. 'Scratch the burial.')"

Don't scratch it, Isla: we get what you mean! You want to be laid to rest with the love of your life; who wouldn't understand that?

CAUSE CLBRE
Hollywood group hopes to bring a lot to the table
Supporters rally to feed the hungry

By TINA DAUNT
January 14, 2009
Like everybody else these days, politically engaged Hollywood -- and particularly its younger activists -- is in a back-to-basics mood.

That's why David Arquette called together a group of actors, musicians, artists, even some athletes, recently at the Beverly Hills home of his manager, Eric Kranzler, to discuss new ways of taking on one of the oldest of causes: feeding the hungry.

Tens of millions of Americans don't know where their next meal is coming from, Arquette told the group that included Jennifer Aniston, Gwen Stefani, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire,
Arquette said he was contacted over the summer by Feeding America, an umbrella organization that distributes food to nearly 200 charities nationwide, including the Los Angeles Food Bank. He has since become the chairman of the group's celebrity outreach effort.

The "Scream" actor said he was taken aback by the severity of the situation: Hunger has gone from an international cause -- with television images of starving babies in Ethiopia or Somalia -- to a domestic concern.

Hard times have brought the most elemental of human needs back to the United States as food banks and community pantries across the country report record demands for their services even as traditional donations from foundations and food companies fall in tandem with the stock market.

Meanwhile, as the unemployment rate creeps toward double digits and budget-strapped states cut aid to needy families, the need for donations is rising.

Gone are the days when Americans could comfortably assume that the only national nutrition problem was obesity. That's what Arquette and his co-host of the event, Motion Picture Assn. of America head Dan Glickman, had in mind when they pulled together Hollywood activists with a record of social commitment.

"Did you see the statistics today?" Glickman asked the group of about 150 actors, musicians and executives who gathered on the Friday before the Golden Globes. "There's 7.2% unemployment in this country, the largest growth since 1948. And that number probably understates it.

"The problem is extraordinarily serious. In this country, the richest in the world, people are going hungry. It's a disgrace that millions of Americans are hanging by a thread. And the number is increasing very rapidly."

As Glickman and Arquette spoke, the crowd stood silent. Stefani, dressed in black, stood next to her husband, musician Gavin Rossdale. Nearby was Sheryl Crow, who has offered to write a song for Feeding America. Nick Lachey draped his arm around girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo. Julia Louis- Dreyfus was there with her husband, Brad Hall.

Amanda Peet came by with husband David Benioff. Also there: Josh Groban, Hill Harper, Ben Harper, Kevin Connolly, Lukas Haas, Alison Sweeney, Michael Chiklis, "Heroes" actor Jimmy Jean-Louis and athletes Bernard Barrian and Barry Zito.

NBC Universal President Ron Meyer (with daughter Jennifer Meyer and son-in-law Maguire) worked his way through the crowd.

To cap the evening, artist Shepard Fairey, who became internationally known for designing the red, white and blue Obama "street art" painting, unveiled a new print he made especially for Feeding America (it features a young girl eating from a soup bowl).

Amid the serious tone of the evening, Fairey sought to add levity. "It's nice to see all the artists here," he said. "I'm the real kind of artist who really starves. It would have been helpful if I had known about Feeding America 12 or 13 years ago."

Fairey said he has known Arquette for several years and was happy to help when he got the call from him recently to get involved. "I was glad to lend my skill set."

Arquette and Glickman said they hoped others would do the same.

"A lot of people in this room are extremely fortunate," Glickman said. "We have a special opportunity to help those in desperate need, especially children and families."

more on the feeding american charity gala

Quote:

If a persons wealth is measured by his friends, as I hear Vicki Escarra, the CEO of Feeding America, said Friday night when introducing Feeding Americas new Entertainment Council Chairman David Arquette during a small Feeding America awareness soiree at Davids agents house, then in both quantity and quality David Arquettes fortune would be enough to help fill food banks for years and actually probably will.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall at Davids agent Eric Kranzlers house last night when Davids idea to have an little awareness-raising happy hour cocktail party drew not just obvious suspects like his wife Courtney Cox and extended family Jennifer Aniston, but also a guest list including Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey and Jen Maguire, Amanda Peet, Nick Lachey, Sheryl Crow and Josh Groban.

Spywitnesses tell me the party was two hours, the star-studded guests talked more about philanthropy than awards shows, nibbled on pigs in a blanket, quesadillas and artichoke poppers and were the first to see the first poster artist Shepard Fairey (who created the now iconic Obama HOPE poster) designed for Feeding America. Before the unveiling Im told Fairey said something to the affect that unlike all of the other artists in the room, Im a real artist, like the kind that starves.

If Faireys latest masterpiece, which is actually an image of his own daughter, has even a fraction of the impact as his Obama poster (which was recently acquired by the Smithsonian), Feeding America should go a long way towards making sure more of America gets fed every day.

To learn more go to feedingamerica.org. Cmon, everybodys doing it ;) xo

PS: No word on why John Mayer wasn't around to show support for Jen Aniston's friends, but Jen looked amazing, we hear.

According to OK Jen was on the floor of Courteney's car a few months ago and they change their online stories seeing in which direction the wind blows. At least they acknowledge David's work.

And I think it's a tie with Life & Style. I mean, Gerard Butler was at Jen's house for 3 hours once and she was dating Leonardo the next week. Gotta give them some credit too laayla .

Arquette, Groban to 'skip lunch' on King holiday
By BRETT ZONGKER January 14, 2008

WASHINGTON (AP) To help tie the presidential inauguration to the Martin Luther King Jr., holiday, a national network of food banks is calling on people to "skip lunch" on the eve of the inauguration to help tackle hunger.

Martin Luther King III, actor David Arquette and musicians Josh Groban and Herbie Hancock are slated to lead a rally for the nonprofit group Feeding America at noon on Monday outside Washington's Martin Luther King Library. The event announced Wednesday asks people to give food or money they would have spent on lunch to a food bank because of a rising demand for food assistance.

"It has been very much a hidden issue," said Vicki Escarra, the president and chief executive of Feeding America, a Chicago-based charity. "It's a little bit like this dirty little secret, if you will, that in a country like America, one in eight are struggling to get enough food to eat."

Now, she said, the problem is spreading and affecting the middle class.

King, the eldest son of the civil rights leader, said the country's economic troubles make the fight against hunger even more important, to ensure all Americans have their most basic needs met. And he said the best way to celebrate the King holiday is through service.

About 600,000 people participated in service projects on the King holiday last year, he said, adding that more people will get involved this year because of their excitement for President-elect Barack Obama.

"We must work to get that number up into the millions," King said. "When we are able to do that, I think we will be close to the fulfillment of that dream my father shared with the nation."

After the rally, the nonprofit group We Feed Our People will serve lunch to about 1,000 homeless people with help from the D.C. mayor's volunteer office. D.C. volunteers have been serving the meal for 21 years, after a group of volunteers noticed homeless shelters at the time were not serving meals on Sundays and holidays, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

"We just thought that was too ironic for a day honoring a man whose last campaign was a poor people's campaign," said Walter McGill Jr., one of the co-founders of the D.C. group.

On the menu this year: Turkey, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, greens, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. All the food is donated by local businesses.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee invited Feeding America to partner with Obama's service initiative, which was announced last week by Gen. Colin Powell.

The Recording Industry Association of America also is raising money for food banks with its inaugural ball. Singer Rihanna is slated to perform at the Tuesday night event.

Jennifer Meyer left her famous friends at home on Thursday when she went out to do some shopping in LA. While she was busy picking up a few new items for her wardrobe, you can too don't forget to enter to win two necklaces Jennifer designed for her pal Jen Aniston to wear in Marley & Me before the contest closes tomorrow night! Jennifer's creations are a favorite in Hollywood, but we're equally excited about her and Tobey's next big project.

Ben Affleck, Stars Turn Out to D.C. Rally

As President-elect Barack Obama spent the day before his historic inauguration visiting homeless youth and doing service, some celebrities are following suit. Ben Affleck, among a list of other stars, came together Monday in Washington, D.C., for a good cause.

Affleck, joined by Martin Luther King III, actor David Arquette and musicians Herbie Hancock and Josh Groban, turned out to the National Hunger Rally hosted by Feeding America.

The national rally against hunger, which took place at the Martin Luther King Library on Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, featured a joint performance by Hancock and Groban.

Arquette chairs Feeding America's Entertainment Council, according to the organization's website. Feeding America is a national domestic hunger-relief charity.
