Looks interesting. Think Jennifer will shave her head for the role?

Quote:
Last weekend, Kristin HahnJennifer Anistons Production Partnertook a detour from a family trip to Aspen to visit the Loft. It was nearly a decade ago when Kristin first read Grace and Grit--the compelling story of Ken and his wife Treyas five-year journey through Treyas illness, treatment, and death. After being approached by Producer/Director Steven Brill, regarding the vision to bring Grace and Grit to the silver screen, Kristin took the book to a meeting with Jen, who, upon seeing it, said, I know that book, what are you doing with that book?

(Incidentally, if you have not read Grace and Grit, stop reading this, go to this link, purchase it and read it as soon as it arrives.)

It turned out that Jen was intimately familiar with the book as she and Brad had read it to each other when they were together. Over the next week, one thing led to another and Jen was asked to play Treya in the movie adaptation. She accepted.

The project is in an early stage at this time as drafts of the screenplay are currently being written. But, one thing is certain; there is a mutual desire of all involved parties to find a way to tell this remarkable story.

In addition to looking forward to a visit from Jen, I am writing this with fervent anticipation of all that could unfold in the wake of one of Kens books being turned into a major motion picture. As many of you know, Ken has turned down many offers to create or appear in major media productions. Without getting into all the reasons why, it is simply clear that once you open yourself and/or your company to the media, they will not rest until they have taken every potshot under the sun. Not only would Kens current 25/8 work week and intense writing schedule come under relentless pressure to make appearances, do interviews, etc, I-I would have to handle the media onslaught that would most likely occur if Integral Institute became a popularly recognized name.

Prior to the launch of the Multiplex, this was not something that we wanted to expose ourselves to, again, for many reasons. But, with the Multiplex live, membership numbers growing daily, Integral University looming on the horizon, and Jennifer Aniston signed on to play Treya, it looks like we are approaching the time when the Integral vision takes its first steps into the realm of popular media.

Treya asked Ken to write a book about their struggle with cancer, and, in doing, he made it possible for Treyas extraordinary vision of life, death, love, and spiritual healing to continue to unfold even 17 years after her death. This project is the next step in that unfolding. As the team continues to push this thing forward, I give thanks to Treyaa deep, profound thanks for her vision, the depth of her compassion and her ability to live and die with grace, integrity, and an uncompromising commitment to spiritual practice.

I give thanks for her life, and through it, the story that may very well be the vehicle that allows the Integral vision to carry us all to a brighter tomorrow.

Jennifer Aniston Getting Friendly With Ken Wilber
Posted Jul 20th 2006 11:30AM by Kim Voynar
Filed under: Drama, Romance, Casting, Deals

Word on the street (well, not the street, perhaps, but definitely in the virtual philosophical circles I hang out in) is that Jennifer Aniston has agreed to star in the film adaptation of Grace and Grit, the true story about the life, struggle with cancer, and death of philosopher Ken Wilber's wife Treya. According to Ken Wilber's blog, Aniston's producing partner, Kristin Hahn, took a copy of the book to a meeting a while back, and Jen got all excited and said, "I know that book, what are you doing with that book?" Seems Aniston and ex-hubby Brad Pitt used to read the book to each other back in the day, and found it inspiring. Various things led to other things, Hahn paid a visit to Wilber, and next thing you know Aniston had agreed to play Treya in the film, which is in early pre-prod at the moment, with drafts of the screenplay being written. I wonder if she'll actually shave her head for the role, or if they'll do the bald cap thing?

This is big, big, biggity-big news in the world of Integral Institute, the philosophical think-tank co-founded by Wilber, and among Wilber's legions of fans. Wilber has been approached before about making the leap into the waters of mainstream media production, but he's always held back, in part due to the sheer amount of extra work it will take to fend off media inquiries, interview requests, and all that fun stuff. Apparently, though, with his newest book, Integral Spirituality, set to hit bookstores in October, and the founding of Integral University underway, Wilber has decided the time is right to dive in. Grace and Grit is a very personal story to Wilber, so I think it's likely that he'll retain at least a measure of control over the screenplay and final product. Could be interesting -- Aniston's involvement definitely takes the potential reach for the film to a higher level than anyone had previously imagined.

Now for the big question -- who will play Wilber (notTomCruisepleasenotTomCruise)? Any Wilber fans out there with strong feelings as to who should play the world's most prolific living bald philosopher?

Oh wow, interesting! This is news to me, sounds like Oscarbait! Strange that we haven't heard anything given that so many of her other announced projects were announced in a far less complete state. Anyway, grit is right, this sounds like some heavy, heavy drama. And based on what she said in the Warden Style interview, I'm guessing that she'll go for the cap.

I hope she does shave her head and I hope it's worth it.

It does seem like a very Oscarbait-y type of role, but I hope, with he right direction and a good, sensitive script, it becomes more than just a star vehicle.

I might read this book, we already know how it's gonna end (unlike Derailed and Wanted).

Right, as I said, in the Warden Style interview she said that that's one thing that she wouldn't do, when they were discussing physical changes that actresses undergo for roles. Maybe she'll wear a bald cap, or maybe she changed her mind, we shall see.

I dont think Jen would shave her head either. And Honestly I wouldnt want her to. There are ways to get around doing that for a role.
