Jennifer Aniston Goes Counter Clockwise
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
October 18, 2006

Universal Pictures has picked up Counter Clockwise, a dramedy written by Paul Bernbaum (Hollywoodland) for Jennifer Aniston to produce with an eye to star, says The Hollywood Reporter. Grant Scharbo and Gina Matthews of Roundtable Entertainment also are producing, along with Aniston's partner, Kristin Hahn.

The story centers on noted Harvard psychologist Ellen Langer, who is known for her work in the illusion of control, decision-making and aging theories. The script focuses on a real study Langer conducted in which she reversed the aging process of her subjects by making them believe they were younger. She wrote about her findings in "Mindfulness."

Scharbo and Matthews were producers on 13 Going on 30 and What Women Want.

And from the original source, as well - according to this one, she doesn't know if she'll star yet, so I'll believe that for now. Nothing confirmed.

One for ages: Uni, Aniston on 'Counter'
By Borys Kit

Universal Pictures has picked up "Counter Clockwise," a dramedy written by Paul Bernbaum for Jennifer Aniston to produce with an eye to star.

Scharbo and Matthews, who were producers on "13 Going on 30" and "What Women Want," came across the study in Deepak Chopra's book "Ageless Body, Timeless Mind." They acquired Langer's rights and brought it to Aniston and Hahn.

Aniston's new shingle, which has no name or any studio affiliation at this point, is in development on several projects, some of which came with Aniston when she left Plan B.

Donna Langley and Kristin Lowe are overseeing for Universal.

Bernbaum wrote "Hollywoodland," starring Ben Affleck and Adrien Brody. Projects in development include "The Warden," at HBO Films, and "Wide Ride," being produced by Kevin Misher. He also worked on the Revolution thriller "Next," starring Nicolas Cage. Bernbaum is repped by UTA and attorney Darren Trattner.

Aniston last starred in Universal's "The Break-Up," which has grossed more than $200 million worldwide, and she just directed a short film for Glamour magazine's "Reel Moments" series. She is repped by CAA.

Jennifer Aniston to tell the story of Harvard psych. professors research

Published On Friday, October 20, 2006 5:02 AM

By ANDREW OKUYIGA

Contributing Writer

The spotlight of Hollywood will soon shine on the Harvard psychology department.

Friends star Jennifer Aniston is set to portray Harvard Professor of Psychology Ellen J. Langer in a new movie about the professors life and studies, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Aniston, best known for her role as Rachel in the popular NBC sitcom, will also co-direct the movie, titled Counter Clockwise.

Langer said in an e-mail that she was excited about the Hollywood exposure.

The research...means a great deal to me so the most exciting part is the possibility that it will reach a larger audience, she wrote.

Langer has met with Aniston and said she was impressed with how bright and genuine she seemed to be.

The movie will bring a 1979 age-defying study onto the silver screen.

In the study, described in Langers 1989 book, Mindfulness, Langer placed a group of elderly men in a setting that convinced them the year was actually 1959.

The magazines, newspapers, and music the men saw and heard were all 20 years old and the men themselves were told to behave and talk as if it were 1959.

The mens physical behavior followed their psychological convictions. Over the course of a week, signs of aging appeared to reverse and the men looked visibly younger. The subjects joints became more flexible, their posture straightened, and the lengths of their fingers, which typically shorten with age, actually increased.

Langer wrote that the films producers promised to stay true to the spirit of the material.

Ive never been involved in anything like this so of course its exciting, she wrote.

The film is being produced by Universal and was written by Hollywoodland screenwriter Paul Bernbaum.

Langer said that Aniston, and others, may be attracted to her research because the results are positive, hopeful, and very unusual.

Shes also even better looking in person, she said.

Anistons publicist did not return requests for comment.

actually, this movie doesn't sound like a oscar material, but if written right can bring in good money, a hit. which is what she needs right now.

I agree. I think it sounds very interesting though, even if she is just the producer or stars in it herself, either way.
