It's 'Girls' night in for Aniston, DreamWorks
By Tatiana Siegel
June 13, 2007
Jennifer Aniston is tuning up a period musical at DreamWorks titled "Goree Girls," which she will produce as a potential starring vehicle.
The project is based on a true story about a group of eight women serving time in Texas' Goree Prison during the 1940s who formed one of the first all-female country and western acts in the country and captured the hearts of millions of fans in the process.
Aniston and her producing partner Kristin Hahn optioned Skip Hollandsworth's May 2003 article in Texas Monthly titled "O Sister Where Art Thou," which recounted the story of the women, who eventually were pardoned. Margaret Nagle, who wrote Brad Silberling's upcoming "The Lost Boys of the Sudan," is adapting. The studio is out to directors.
Aniston, a former partner in Plan B, has several producing projects in development via that relationship, including the upcoming "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" and "A Million Little Pieces." She also has set up post-Plan B films like "Counter Clockwise" at Universal Pictures.
She is repped by CAA, Brillstein-Grey and attorney Craig Jacobson.
Nagle, whose writing credits include HBO's Emmy-winning "Warm Springs," teamed with Aniston when Nagle penned a biopic about war photographer Dickey Chapelle. The untitled film is in development at Plan B and Warner Bros. Pictures. The scribe also is the creator and executive producer of the Lifetime original series "Side Order of Life," which debuts in the fall.
She is repped by UTA and attorney David Matlof.

Could be wrong, but the project sounds pretty far along if they're looking for directors |

The exactly same thing I thought, even before they mentionated Margaret, her odd (at the time) quote came to my mind.
I can't picture Jen singing, though, she has always said she sucks singing, in one of her old interviews she mentionated all her girls singing on those karaoke bars, being her the only not doing so, and she dreamed about the day she'd have the courage to sing in front of a crew, if this is true, then it's very brave of her. |

I saw that video on Youtube too :P I agree that she was quite good too ^.^ I can't wait for more information on this, but I don't think that we should get our hopes up as there have been so many rumours recently that nothing can be believed.
Although, I did read in a magazine a couple of weeks back that "lots of scripts were on the table", but considering the rest of the article, I wouldn't pin my hopes on anything just yet. |
