I totally agree ukca. It seems like everything is so corporate and big budget in Hollywood right now, and the little artistic indie movies get virtually ignored even when they're so much better (like "Disaster Movie" should have gone into theatres and "Management" should not? Seems totally backward to me). I really hope this gets a distributor.

Risking being labelled as 'negative' posting this, this is not a good review. But I wanted to make a point. It seems that the Management suffers from a bad script, NOT JEN's FAULT! I really really think that SHE NEEDS A MANAGER WHO CAN GET HER A GOOD SCRIPT! No matter how she shines as an actress, if the script is not good (like in Rumor Has It) she is the one out front to take the fall. I'm actually angry about this.
-----------

Toronto: Aniston, LeBron and Paris Dont Make the Grade

These films arrived at the festival with high hopes, but, once the dust settled, it was clear they couldnt hold up against the quality selections in the program.

Management: At first, Jennifer Aniston and Steve Zahn seem to hit it off in this dourly lit romantic comedy about a small-town hotel clerk who falls for a traveling corporate art saleswoman, but once he starts following her all over the country the movie takes an uninteresting and fairly unbelievable turn. It doesnt help that Anistons character also becomes inherently less likable as the picture goes on.

I think we've mentioned before it was possibly the script/writing... Not a lot they can do about that as Cookie and I have said before. BUT very few movies that were looking for a distributor came away with one. It wasn't just these few that are being singled out.

It looks like a quirky Indie to me-still hoping it's get picked up.I love Jennifer's Indie movies-TGG and FWM! laayla

in TGG, jen's character wasn't as likable either, but the movie was still great, one of her best work infact. there will alsways be good and bad reviews and it depends on you which you prefer to go with. predominatly reviews for this movie have been good.

LOL The site also says that Paris, Not France had high hopes going into the festival.

ETA / It has a 8.4/10 voting out of 19 votes. If those who voted weren't simply Jennifer fans, then it's a pretty good rating.

It's also really hard for any film that's even kind of seen as a romantic comedy to get good reviews. They always say it's either "too predictable" and formulaic, or they say it's "unbelievable." It's kind of funny that critics fault films for being predictable, but if they do something different from the formula they also hate it. drunk1

On the lighter side, I have to mention - the other day, I was on the bus, and there was an announcement about the CTA's new "touch and go" fare units. One guess what that brought to mind laayla I of course cracked up, earning myself some very strange looks from the other passengers.

Are you sure that wasn't a teaser promo for Management? laayla

Thank you, soccergirl. You are a whiz at finding this good stuff.

I love this itnerview and the reporter obviously liked Management. Didn't know Jen was so involved in the making of the movie. Didn't know she was friends with Woody prior to the film.

So she has 6 projects in the works and three are close, Dream Works, a couple at Universal. Name them Jennifer. We want to know. Also notice that she didn't dispute the reference to Senator's Wife. Interesting.

She seemed really open and creative with her answers from this interview and the others that I've seen from this day. I think she thrives in this one-on-one setting, especially when she really likes the interviewers and when they ask her questions that aren't so predictable. Lovely!
