Jen Aniston: 'I Would Love to Be Oprah'
MONDAY OCTOBER 15, 2007 12:25 PM EDT

By Marla Lehner

If Jennifer Aniston could be anyone else, she knows exactly who'd she'd choose to be.

"I would love to be Oprah for just one day," the actress tells Harper's Bazaar in the magazine's 140th anniversary issue.

Aniston and Winfrey have been pals for some time, and last year the talk show host shot down rumors that she was planning a $1 million wedding for the actress and her then-boyfriend, Vince Vaughn.

Continuing the line of questioning about Aniston's fantasy life, she's asked what she'd do if she worked for the government. "I'd be a spy. A very glamorous spy who plays poker and lives in Monaco," she says. "And has affairs with Daniel Craig."

Talking more seriously about her life as one of the most recognizable faces in the world, Aniston, 38, recounts once walking 40 blocks in New York City without anyone noticing her.

"If you can get away from the paparazzi and they don't know where you are, you can actually walk, walk, walk," Aniston says of the city where she is contemplating living again.

"I don't know, I'm just tired of Los Angeles," she tells the magazine, which goes on sale Oct. 23. "In New York, you're not just in that same car, looking at that same dashboard, driving down the same street."

As for dealing with what both critics and the public think about her, she says she no longer pays attention to it. "I used to care a hell of a lot more about what people said or thought. But that had to change when my life was under a microscope being scrutinized and my personal life was being talked about," she says. "You have to go, 'This is not acceptable in any way,' whether it's about me personally or in business, success versus failure."

The actress, who is currently filming the comedy He's Just Not That Into You, also defends her box office record saying, "I've read things that said I wasn't successful at the box office or that my big hit was The Break-Up. But I said, 'Wait a minute. There was Along Came Polly, which did really well, and Bruce Almighty was a pretty big movie.' "

Still, Aniston expresses surprise at her own massive success on television and isn't afraid to poke a bit of fun at it.

"I don't think anybody thought Friends would become what it did," she says. "It's all good, though. It's nothing but blessings," she says. "But seriously, who actually dances in a fountain?"

After taking a two-year hiatus, Jennifer Aniston is back to work on her new film Hes Just Not That Into You. In the November issue of Harpers Bazaar, the 38-year-old actress reflects on a possible move to New York, her inner Oprah, and who in Hollywood shed like to have an affair with (hint: The name is Bond, James Bond). The mag, celebrating its 140th anniversary, doesnt hit newsstands until October 23 but see interview higlights below for a sneak peek

On how she would like this story to begin:

Im ba-ack.

On her previous movie roles as a checkout chick in The Good Girl and a broke, pot-smoking maid in Friends with Money:

I like those roles. I feel comfortable with them. Theyre more real. People can say, Oh, I have relatives like that, I dated a guy like that, or I have a friend like that. Theyre relatable.

On what the public says about her:
I used to care a hell of a lot more about what people said or thought. But that had to change when my life was under a microscope being scrutinized and my personal life was being talked about. You have to go, This is not acceptable in any way, whether its about me personally or in business, success versus failure. Its so negative. Its such bizarre negativity.

On living a day as someone else:
I would love to be Oprah for just one day.

If she worked in the government:
Id be a spy. A very glamorous spy who plays poker and lives in Monaco. And has affairs with Daniel Craig.

On a possible move to New York:

I can actually visualize it again, for some reason. I dont know, Im just tired of Los Angeles. In New York, youre not just in that same car, looking at that same dashboard, driving down the same street.

On walking 40 blocks in New York and nobody noticing her:

If you can get away from the paparazzi and they dont know where you are, you can actually walk, walk, walk.

On critiques of her box-office performance:
Ive read things that said I wasnt successful at the box office or that my big hit was The Break-Up. But I said, Wait a minute. There was Along Came Polly, which did really well, and Bruce Almighty was a pretty big movie. But theyll single out Derailed or Rumor Has It, movies that didnt do well, in order to support their agenda.

On Friends:
"I don't think anybody thought Friends would become what it did. It's all good, though. It's nothing but blessings. But seriously, who actually dances in a fountain?"

That's because she doesn't know me, nor my friends.

How does Jennifer A. fit into this all? She is filming a movie here in Portland. The best part being that most people are being so careful of her, that when they DO see her...they don't call people and say that they saw her until MUCH later so she doesn't get mobbed. I think that speaks volumes. I am not sure yet if that's about Jennifer (I think it is) or about Portland (a fast second). We DO love our celebrities...but even Michael Jordan said when he came here "Portland might be the friendliest, kindest city I've ever been to". Gotta love that. I think he's right.

She was so lovely to her restaurant wait staff..they liked her. She paid compliments, asked how their day was going...isn't that a nice change to other celebrities? Lindsay....Paris...Brit....you just never hear about them being kind to staff, laying low, arriving in a regular old taxi. They need to learn a thing or two from the polite gals!!!!

Nice story.

GODMOTHER JENNIFER ANISTON SPLURGES ON COCO ARQUETTE

You couldn't wish for a better godmother than Jennifer Aniston. Jen is godmother to Courtney Cox and David Arquette's three year old little girl Coco. Jen knows her best friend Courteney loves mid century modern homes and décor so she splurged on a gift for Coco. Jen completely redid Coco's room in mid-century modern with child size versions of classic Knoll furniture like Eero Saarinen's womb chair and Van Der Rohe's leather Barcelona chair along with a Knoll credenza. She added a rug, lamps - and everything was 2/3 the size of adult furniture.

Coco is very lucky indeed, i can't even recall if i do have a godmother.
I was just wondering if she is actually seeing anyone right now, i mean all they people she has 'supposedly' been seeing turned out to be false.
I was really hoping that this year would be the year she found someone special i guess we would have to wait then or be she has who knows she is just private about it.
Pls do not see this as any sort of quote to provoke any reaction i just wish the very best of her , both privately and publicly.
