Jennifer Aniston and Will Ferrell Get Serious
Today 1:43 PM PDT

Will Ferrell may be a big jokester, but his latest endeavor is no laughing matter. The Semi-Pro star is one of many celebs (along with Jennifer Aniston) who are participating in public service announcements to help end human-rights violations in Burma and free imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi.

I can exclusively tell you that Ferrells PSA will debut online tomorrow at BurmaItCantWait.org as a kickoff for the Human Rights Action Center and U.S. Campaign for Burmas new celebrity PSA program.

"Every now and again, a single person or event captures the imagination and inspiration of the world, Ferrell says in his spot. This moment belongs to Burma and to Aung San Suu Kyi. Please, honor her courage, honor your compassion and let this be the month you join an effort to change the world."

Anistons PSA will post online on Friday, followed by spots from other boldfaced names like Ellen Page, Anjelica Huston, Judd Apatow, Sarah Silverman and Sylvester Stallone.

Cool about the P.S.A. Sisi, the full list hasn't been released yet. I wouldn't expect her high on the list, if at all;she was not doing any publicity or red carpets last year and I personally think the list is based on that.

More on Jen's PSA. Sounds like she'll be doing it with Woody.

Will Ferrell Rolls the Cause Dice for Burma
Whether you're an air traffic controller or some random kid in Toledo, Burma could use your help tackling that slippery "human rights" concept.

Seriously. There's some screwed-up stuff happening there, including ethnic cleansing and the imprisonment of a Nobel Peace Prize winner, and Will Ferrell took time out of his busy Funny or Die schedule just to tell you so.

In the next 30 days, other celebs will lend their earnest faces and awkward jokes to Burma: It Can't Wait. Up to bat tomorrow: Jennifer Aniston and Woody Harrelson. Sure it's an odd pairing (Natural Born Killers meets Friends?), but crisis has a way of making unlikely bedfellows.

Loving how the site cuts right to the chase with that big red DONATE button.

The stars align on Myanmar

Theres a new celebrity cause du jour joining the likes of climate change and the Iraq war. Dont be surprised if you start hearing about efforts to release Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi from imprisonment in Myanmar. She is the subject of a new crusade beginning today that already has won the support of Will Ferrell, Jennifer Aniston, Ellen Page, Sarah Silverman, Angelica Huston and Sylvester Stallone.

Under the banner of "Burma It Can't Wait," the celebs have joined with the Human Rights Action Center and the U.S. Campaign for Burma for a month-long activism campaign using viral videos. Each day during May, a different video clip will be issued by organizers in hopes of attracting attention to the cause and taking action against the military junta that controls Myanmar, also known as Burma.

"Every now and again, a single person or event captures the imagination and inspiration of the world," Will Ferrell says in his video, which officially starts the campaign on Thursday. "This moment belongs to Burma, and to Aung San Suu Kyi. Please, honor her courage, honor your compassion and let this be the month you join an effort to change the world." Ferrell has previously appeared in other politically charged viral videos, most notably impersonating President Bush in a clip backed by environmental groups.

The plight of democratically-elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been under house arrest since 1990, has been recognized by dozens of world leaders, including former U.S. presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. The House of Representatives last December voted 400-0 to award her the Congressional Gold Medal, and the Senate concurred several months later.

The effort is being underwritten by social shopping website Fanista, with CEO Dan Adler explaining, "We got behind this campaign because of our belief that the unassailable ideals of Aung San Suu Kyi and the people of Burma could benefit from the voices of celebrities talking about the horrific situation there. We also saw it as a perfect way to use the unique structure of our business model to turn entertainment purchases into pro-social contributions, without costing consumers any extra money."

The full campaign will be available via Fanista at burmaitcantwait.org. Bonus footage from the various video shoots will be available only on Fanista, and personal profile pages of many participating celebrities will also be on the site.

From Scenes in the tropics Miami Herald gossip blogger
The Countdown Begins

It's only been a few months but it feels like decades since Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson stormed into town to film Marley & Me. While Wilson was in the clear lead as far as gossip fodder, Aniston left him in the dust (and the rest of us in the photo archives of her darling bodyguard Secret Agent Man Scott) with her big, bizarro weekend with John Mayer. That said, there's only one week left for Wilson to outdo her, as the movie wraps in Miami next Friday (wrap party information to come) before taking off to the City of Brotherly Love. In its place, Confessions of A Shopaholic, starring Hugh Dancy and Borat's wife Isla Fisher. Zzzzzzz.
