Too bad for the referee mistakes.
I assume you talk about the first goal. According to UEFA the Italian player lying behind the Italian goalline was still considered to be an active player, therfore making it a legitimate and not a offside goal. A strange rule, which is meant to combat unsportmanslike behaviour.

Good luck against Italy. It's gonna be a tough match. Italy has to win and definitely had a wake-up call yesterday.

Thanks!

I meant the first goal and also a penalty refused to Holland and one yellow card an italian player recived without any foult and some other minor mistakes.

I just know that being a referee is such an ungrateful job. I mean, you can't walk off the field with everyone appreciating you doing a good job. So far, the decisions that were made were fairly well and the minor mistakes didn't decide a game which is all I'm asking.

France vs Romania, what a boring match. I didn't even watch the whole thing which is saying a lot if you know me.

You know, I'm still hurting from the semi-finals of 2006 (world cup, yes) when Italy scored the deciding goal in the 118th minute and made the final. Gah! Totally the reason for me not hoping that Italy comes through (unless they'll meet Germany in the finale and we're going to kick their asses LOL). So, I was really happy when Holland scored the first two goals (what a great one the second one was!). But when they scored their third goal, I felt bad for Italy again. So, one part of my heart is laughing, the other one pouting. :P

Spain 4 : 1 Russia (not that interesting but Spain deserved to win, so all's good)

Right now, Sweden 0 : 0 Greece. I'm saying Sweden wins by one goal. Maybe two.

Germany hasn't won a major tournament since '98. From a German perspective that must feel like an eternity.

For groups A and B my money is on Portugal, the Chech Republic and of course Germany. Clearly I don't like Italy for the final. I'd much rather see a reprise of the '88 semi-final Germany - Netherlands. From a Dutch point of view this would make a great final.

Don't feel bad for Italy. Prior to their first game Italian newspapers polled the Azuri fans and they predicted an easy 4-0 victory for Italy. Goes to show that in the European Championships you can't take any opponent for granted.

Portugal 3:1 Czech Republic

Great great game. Seeing their 2 games I think Portugal has a chance too win the Championship.

Indeed, I have them in the final for the prediction list I filled in my sister's office pool. This is my prediction:

Quarter finals
Portugal - Croatia
Germany - Chech Republic
Netherlands - Sweden
Spain - Italy

Semi final
Portugal - Germany
Netherlands - Spain

Final
Portugal - Spain

If Spain finally learns to play as a team, they can go far. In the past this has been a problem. A team combined of players from Catalua (Barcelona) and Spain (Real Madrid, Deportivo and so on) always gave problems in the past. Which is a shame because they always have such great potential. Of course I'd rather see the Netherlands in the final but the prediction above is meant to win my sister's office competition. laayla

foxy_roxy, you're not for the US when it's the World Championships? I also didn't know people outside of Germany miss Klinsmann. Although I really like Joachim Lw.

Well I'm from Australia so not really, plus Oz has a good team laayla . Once Australia lost in '06, I was for Germany all the way. I do miss Klinsmann, he was amazing and I think he had a huge impact on the players, but like you say Lw is pretty good too. I still remember Klinsmann's celebrations laayla

I know! I didn't expect them to lose but it's always nice when the underdogs win a couple. Especially since Italy beat Australia in the first round and then Germany in the semis. It was a bad double blow from the same team banghead1 . All the more reason for me being happy. But if Germany do play Italy then it's ass kicking time.

I do feel that either one out of Spain, Holland, Portugal or Germany have a chance but I'm slightly biased <thinks back to third place match> like you Laura angel2 . I'm not sure how the maths work but I guess I'm hoping for a Germany and Spain/Netherlands final.

It's a long time indeed. And it's actually in 1996 that Germany won their last major tournament title. So it feels like an eternity plus two years. LOL

Germany is the most successful team of the European Championships history so far. I didn't even know that; that's cool.

I'm all for a Germany vs Netherlands final.

Quarter finals
Portugal - Croatia
Germany - Chech Republic
Netherlands - Sweden
Spain - France

Semi final
Portugal - Germany
Netherlands - France

Final
Germany - Netherlands

Roxy, I totally forgot that you're actually from Australia! Then it's obvious why you're rooting for them. I really like the team, too. (I saw their World Cup games, good stuff.)

My bet is also Germany vs Netherlands in the final.
But I think it will not very easy for us today, Croatia is very strong.
I think we will win 2:1 and Laura what is your bet :)

I didn't know that either! I looked for a list and here is an all-time 'ranglijst' (probably 'ranglist' in English or something...) I thought it was quite interesting...

Here it is: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europees_kampioenschap_voetbal
(it's in Dutch but most countries are almost the same in English or Dutch...)

That was my guess, too, but we know how that turned out. The thing that angers me the most is the fact that Croatia played pretty damn bad, as well and were only really good in the defense. But no, we played even worse (since we left Croatia so much space, Croatia should have had way more shots on our goal but they played pretty badly, as well).

My bet is still on the Netherlands, maybe even for European Champion. Haha, Italy, haha.

I think Netherlands will be in the final. Also big chances have Portugal, Spain and Germany.

I still have a little hope we'll qualify further. We need a Italy--France draw or to defeat Netherlands which seems soooooooooo hard right now).

I don't know much about soccer but even I thought we were really bad. But I found out that whenever I didn't watch the game than germany makes a goal. I stopped watching in the second half and than five minutes later they make a goal. Two years ago on the World Cup it was the same, so I better don't watch that game on Monday :)

My bet is still on the Netherlands maybe against Croatia.
