Travis Barker and DJ AM in Jet Crash

Travis Barker and DJ AM were among six people aboard a Learjet that crashed upon takeoff from a Columbia, South Carolina, airport after midnight Friday. The four others onboard were killed.
Barker, an ex-drummer for the rock band Blink 182 and the star of the MTV reality show Meet the Barkers, had performed at a free Friday-night college event with former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell, Gavin DeGraw and DJ AM.
Barker, 32, was taken to a burn center in Augusta, Georgia, about 75 miles southwest of Columbia, and was listed in critical condition Saturday morning � as was DJ AM (real name: Adam Michael Goldstein), 35, say officials at the facility.
"Both Travis Barker and Adam Goldstein are in critical but stable condition," Beth Frits, spokesperson for the Joseph M. Still Burn Center, tells PEOPLE. "Goldstein was airlifted here and Barker was brought by ground transportation. So they arrived separately."
The Four Who Died
According to South Carolina's Lexington County coroner, Harry Harman, and deputy coroner, Brian Setree, the four others on the plane were killed. They are: pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, Calif.; security guard Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles; and Barker's assistant Chris Baker, 26, also of Los Angeles.
"We are doing our own investigation as well as waiting to hear what the National Transportation Safety Board has to say," Setree tells PEOPLE.
Lynne Douglas, spokesperson for the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, tells PEOPLE the weather was beautiful when the Leerjet left the runway after midnight Friday.
"The plane crashed on takeoff and went through a fence near Highway 302, then crossed the road and went up an embankment before being filled with flames," she tells PEOPLE. "There was debris all over the runway. We are closed now and hope to reopen later today."
Sparks at Takeoff
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the Lear 60 � bound for Van Nuys, Calif., with six people aboard � departed shortly before midnight Friday, when air-traffic controllers reported seeing sparks.
Barker and Goldstein perform together under the name TRVSDJ-AM. Goldstein at one time was the fianc� of Nicole Richie.
After Blink 182, Barker formed the rock band (+44) and costarred on Meet the Barkers with former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, his wife at the time.

Travis Barker's former mother-in-law, Gail Moakler, tells PEOPLE, "We're totally crushed," but that Shanna Moakler has rushed to be with her ex, while DJ AM's sister, Lara, and her husband, Benjamin Long, learned the news of the plane crash � in which Barker and DJ AM were badly burned and four others were killed � from a phone call from AM's mother on Saturday morning.
"We're in shock," Benjamin Long told PEOPLE. "Nobody expects something like this. We're waiting to hear more."
Moakler, whose daughter Shanna was married to Barker, tells PEOPLE, "Our heart pours out. We're hoping he recovers. The family is rallying around him and saying our prayers."

Children Not Told
Upon hearing the news of the crash, "Shanna flew out this morning, and I am going to L.A. to be with the children so that she can devote time to Travis," Gail Moakler tells PEOPLE.
Former Playboy Playmate Shanna Moakler, 33, was married to Barker from 2004 until earlier this year. They have two children: son Landon, 4, and daughter Alabama, 2.
"There's still love between them," says Gail Moakler. "They may be divorced, but they're still very close. She spends a lot of time with him. Their priorities are their kids."
The youngsters have yet to be told about the incident. "We're waiting a bit to see what God brings," says their grandmother, who adds, "Shanna spoke to Travis last night. He was defiant after the accident and didn't want to be lifted in a helicopter, but rather an ambulance, so they had to knock him out."
DJ AM is a Survivor
"The whole thing is crazy," said Benjamin Long. "We're thankful that he made it. And we feel horrible about those who didn't. It's just awful."
He added that his bother-in-law is a survivor. "He flies all the time," says Long. "A lot of people know his story. He's pulled through a lot of things in the past."
The Learjet carrying six people that crashed after midnight Friday was just over one year old and chartered from Global Executive Aviation in Long Beach, Calif., according to Columbia Metropolitan Airport spokesperson Lynne Douglas,
"The crash was the result of an overrun on its flight to Van Nuys [Calif.]," says Douglas, who attended a National Transportation Safety Board press conference Saturday afternoon in Columbia. "The NTSB is gathering information and fact finding to learn what happened in this tragedy."

My heart goes out to the families and friends of the deceased. My thoughts are with Travis and DJ AM, hope they can fully recover.

Reps for DJ AM and Travis Barker have released a joint statement regarding their early Friday morning jet crash that left them severely burned and claimed the lives of four people, including Barker's assistant.
"Both Travis Barker and Adam Goldstein (DJ AM) are in critical but stable condition and are being treated at Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia after surviving a plane crash late last night in Columbia, South Carolina. The hospital will issue a statement with an update on their condition at 9 a.m. eastern time tomorrow.
"Due to the nature of the injuries and the evolving course of treatment, no further information on their condition is available at this time.
"The accident claimed the lives of four people on board, two of whom, Chris Baker (Lil Chris) and Charles Stills (Che), were close friends of the injured.
"On behalf of Travis Barker and DJ AM, deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of all who perished in the crash. As the two recuperate and mourn this loss, privacy for them, their families, and friends is requested at this time."

| That is so shocking and tragic. It is such a terrible loss for all of the loved ones of the deceased. Here's hoping that both Travis and DJ AM make full recoveries. |

The hospital held a press conference at 9 AM this morning. Us Weekly seems to have the best coverage that I can find. I have linked the hospital web site where fans are invited to leave a message for Adam and Travis.

UPDATE: Doctor: Travis Barker and DJ AM Expected to Make Full Recovery

Travis Barker and DJ AM suffered second and third degree burns from Friday's jet crash that killed four people, Dr. Fred Mullins, Medical Director at Georgia's Joseph Still Burn Center, announced at a press conference Sunday morning.
Barker has burns on his torso and lower body and Goldstein has burns on his arm and part of his head, Mullins said. (Mullins would not say the percentage of their bodies that were burned or whether they were conscious. He also did not go into detail about the type of treatment they are currently receiving.)
He said the two did not sustain any other injuries from the crash.
�I think these patients are going to make a full recovery,� Mullins said.
He added, �Anybody who can survive a plane crash is very lucky.�
During the conference, Mullins also read a statement from the families.
�The families wish to thank fans from all over the world for their prayers and concern. Deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of those who perished in the crash. As the two recuperate and mourn this loss, privacy for them, their families and friends is requested at this time.�

E! reported the retraction also and has said that in fact, she is not pregant.
