Aniston, Butler find laffs at Columbia
Andy Tennant to direct bounty hunter comedy
By MICHAEL FLEMING, TATIANA SIEGEL

Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler are in negotiations to topline an untitled bounty hunter project at Columbia.

"Hitch" helmer Andy Tennant is attached to direct the comedy, which centers on a bounty hunter (Butler) hired to retrieve his ex-wife (Aniston), who has skipped bail.

Sarah Thorp, whose most recent bigscreen credit is the Ashley Judd starrer "Twisted," penned the script.

Studio is eyeing a May start date.

Neal Moritz is producing through his Sony-based Original Films shingle.

Aniston, who next stars in the Christmas Day opener "Marley & Me," has three films in the can: "He's Just Not That Into You," "Traveling" and "Management," which she also produced.

"300" star Butler, who most recently appeared in "RocknRolla" and "Nim's Island," will next be seen in the thriller "Game" and the romantic comedy "The Ugly Truth" opposite Katherine Heigl.

Tennant most recently helmed the Matthew McConaughey-Kate Hudson topliner "Fool's Gold." He also is attached to direct "Chasing Harry Winston."

Thanks for posting! It must be further along than even she made it sound in the interview. My only hesitation, to be honest, is that it's with the director of 'Fools Gold.' But he also made 'Hitch,' which was really great I thought, so you never know. Looking forward to hearing more about this either way! angel1

I'm sure the negotiations part is true. It's from Variety. Plus Jennifer mentioned it in one of her interviews. I don't disagree with you aniStunning10 on Fool's Gold, although it did make it's rather high budget in domestic box office and grossed an additional 40 million overseas. Now Hitch - that was a stupendous success.

Access Hollywood is reporting it from Variety. ET also has a story on it.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Gerard Butler is on the hunt and hes going after Jennifer Aniston.
December 9, 2008

The duo is in talks to star in a new comedy together, according to Variety.

The as-of-yet untitled project would find Butler as a bounty hunter hired to track down his ex-wife (Aniston) after she skips bail.

Andy Tennant (Hitch; Fools Gold) will direct the film.

Production is slated to begin in May 2009.

Aniston will next be seen on the big screen in the comedy Marley & Me, opposite Owen Wilson, which opens Christmas Day.

She also has completed three films, all currently awaiting release the romantic comedy Hes Just Not That Into You; the drama Traveling alongside Aaron Eckhart; and Management, a dramedy co-starring Steve Zahn and Woody Harrelson.

Butler, who shot to superstardom in 300, will star in the upcoming Sci-Fi thriller Game, as well as the romantic comedy The Ugly Truth opposite Katherine Heigl.

Thanks for all the info. Really looking forward to this one. Funny how everyone got it wrong and were saying that Butler was in talks for Goree Girls.

IMDB Pro had it listed as an action film before this was released and I got a little excited for something different but now hearing it's a comedy... meh. Don't gang up on me for this but I want to see her do something other than comedies because I know she would be awesome. Maybe I need more info on this.
