Yesterday morning I woke up to the sound of shrill screaming eek1 . I ran out of my room since I was pretty freaked out and heard my mum yelling 'Push it out of the door!' to my maid. We had had a rat in our house a couple days back so I thought they found it but when I went downstairs I saw a long, black slithering thing.

Turned out it was a snake. Thankfully it wasn't very big, only 60cm but nevertheless whenever my maid tried to push it with the broom, it struck out and that made her scream. It was so fast, it went from under the dining table to the desk to under the couch. So we moved the couch and then we spent at least 10 mins trying to send it out of the door. My mum was trying to be like Jeff Corwin with a pair of garden tongs LOL, but that wasn't working. Finally it slithered under the door and into the front garden.

We followed it and it snuck away under the bushes, it was definitely a freaky experience. I don't think it was venomous though as I looked at a snake species book, but now that I think about it, it was kinda hilarious. The three of us running around the house in our night clothes. After about two hours, my mum found out that you can call the fire department to deal with snakes Josan

Yeah Tasha, it's always a bit of a surprise at first. Next time you should call the fire department laayla . During most of my childhood in Hobart, we had loads of snakes come in at various times. We'd usually call someone since there are loads of venomous ones here. As you know, I still have the habit of flipping my shoes violently to check for poisonous spiders... angel2

Oh, yuck! Snakes (nor rats) never ever came in to our apartment. Only on dreams. I had fun picturing you, your mom and maid running around the house.

I've never had snakes or rats in my house either and yeah, it was pretty freaky. One of my mum's cousins had a snake in his toilet bowl in Bangalore eek1 Now that's bad.
