"Pet Book of the Week"

This week, we're kicking off a new feature on Blue's Pet Page, our "Book of the Week" review. We begin with a best-seller that's currently being made into a movie, starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. The book is "Marley and Me: Life and Love With the World's Worst Dog" by John Grogan. Our review is submitted by our web critic, Chris Ortego, who just happens to be the proud owner of a beautiful Labrador named Phoenix. Here is Chris's review:

"Marley and Me" is a wonderful book chronicling the life of John and Jenny Grogan and their mischevious Yellow Labrador, Marley. John and Jenny are just starting out on their new life of marriage when they decide to hone their potential parenting skills on a new puppy. Little did they know that the little ball of yellow fur they were bringing home would forever change their lives. Although he is a rambunctious, mischevious, and destructive litte character, his heart remains pure with the most innocent of intentions. Reader's thoughts: Even if you don't own a Labrador you will surely see your own dog in Marley. Expect to run your full gambit of emotions while reading. Several times I found myself laughing out loud, tearing up, and saying "Awe cher' dog!" I recommend this book for any dog owner, potential dog owner, or anyone thinking of adopting a Labrador... ESPECIALLY if you're thinking of adopting a Labrador. If you're not too big into reading, "Marley and Me" is currently in production to be made into a movie starting Owen Willson and Jennifer Aniston. For those who want to know what the Grogan family looks like here they are below in front of their Pennsylvania home.

Excluding the Dog Whisperer in the burgundy shirt, the Grogan family from left to right: son Patrick, Jenny his wife, their dog Gracie, daughter Colleen, son Conor, and John himself.


I wonder how the kids feel about all the Hollywood hub bub over their father's book and their lives being put on the big screen.

Thanks for the picture Kamia. Don't see the resemblence at all between Jen and Owen to them but it's nice to see what they look like

This may have been posted already, but the official website for the book has some photos of the "Marley years" here: http://www.marleyandme.com/scrapbook.html . This includes some pictures of Jenny when she was younger (during the time the book takes place), and in those I actually do see some resemblance to Jen. Owen looks nothing like John at any point though, lol.

It's all movie magic. No Owen looks nothing like John and I can't wait to see how he does portraying him. I enjoyed the Marley pictures. He was a big dog for sure.
