Nice article.

Christmas present: Marley & Me
01:00 AM EDT on Tuesday, October 28, 2008
By Michael Janusonis
Journal Arts Writer

While John Grogans The Longest Trip Home seems to be headed for book sale success, following good reviews, its his previous book, Marley & Me that will be making waves at the movie box office when it is unwrapped in theaters on Christmas Day.

Marley & Me, which turned Grogan from a columnist at the Philadelphia Inquirer into a best-selling author when it was published in 2005, is about how the lives of his family were changed when they acquired a mischievous, behaviorally challenged Labrador retriever puppy.

The film version stars Owen Wilson as Grogan and Jennifer Aniston as his wife, Jennifer. It was directed by David Frankel, who won an Academy Award in 1997 for the best live-action short film, Dear Diary, and a 2001 Emmy for his direction of Band of Brothers. Frankels last film was the 2006 hit The Devil Wears Prada.

In the film Marley & Me, 13 dogs play Marley at various stages of his life. Grogan said that Clyde, the one who plays the adult Marley, is a dead ringer for the real Marley.

POSSIBLE SPOILER
At the end of the book, Marley must be put down and the Grogans eventually adopt a new dog. But whether this makes it onto the screen remains to be seen until the film is released.

Marley is buried in the backyard of Grogans house about an hour outside Philadelphia, beneath an arc of cherry trees and wild raspberry bushes.

I love that her name is Jennifer in the movie.
I've always loved her name and I like that she's going to be playing a character of the same in Marley&Me.

Aside from that, I have a gut feeling that this is going to be my favorite Jen movie of all time.

USA TODAY Fun films, Take 12: The big moneymakers
October 30, 2008

While the prestige pictures profess class, other movies will be collecting most of the cash. Fun tends to out-gross art at the box office, so USA TODAY takes a look at the most promising populist fare.

Marley & Me / Dec. 25
Why we're watching: Because it's overflowing with cute, from stars Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson to the nine Labrador retrievers who play the naughty and neurotic dog. If The Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel can capture any of the magic of John Grogan's book, moviegoers may want to bring more than a few tissues.
