Along the way, she even got a little education of her own. When she showed up a few minutes late, principal Lloyd Housky said, "As a school principal I need to tell you that you cannot keep our children waiting!"

Aniston replied: "I understand! I got that message from my principal when I was going to school, too!"

I hope I am wrong, but Mr. Lloyd Housky sounded a bit rude, and Jen's response was very sweet. Sometimes I wish I had a little of Jen in me, she is so calm, this would ruin my day.

I'm sure he was teasing. If he wasn't, he's downright dumb. How many celebrities will he get to talk to his kids if he's mean to them.

Loved Jennifer's answer.

I'd like to hear about the kids' reaction to Jennifer, some of the questions, what was the program under which she spoke. Geeeeeeeeeez People!

Interesting what People chose to write about in that article instead of the important stuff ...I would like to know what the talk was really about, how did she deliver it, was it a lesson, was it in a question and answer format, how was it received by the children..did she do a good job.....

But I will tell you..from experience....principals love to "feel the power" over anyone...we used to kid around that they all must take a course on how to be a$$holes...before you guys get riled up..I was an eduactor for years!!! laayla

I worked for four principals-they were always late! It was a standing joke if they ever got to meetings on time. laayla

isnt that a bit rude to say, none of us know the guy and even if he wasnt joking there was nothing mean about what he said .most principal are like that when it comes to time keeping , they address parents like that as well in relation to time keeping....

i doubt jen would be devasted from a principal just telling her about time keeping.

anyways i love that jen and smartwater have a deal to encourage and educate healthy lifestyles in kids

I think that People's approach to the story is actually pretty dumb. I am sure the principal was joking around, but of course, you can't tell the tone when it is written in a short blurb like that. People could have provided some more information about what Smartwater is doing in the schools, but instead, they focused on something trivial.

I agree. People's writers are a bit passive-aggressive, but it's probably based on what information they had. Maybe they talked to one source and that's the only quote they could get. I would have liked to hear about the children at the school!

Well, given the information People gives us, it most have been a Smartwater sponsored initiative:

Quote:
"Aniston, 39, a spokeswoman for Smartwater, a nutrient-enriched bottled water"

Quote:
"She talked to the students about water nutrition and why it's so important for all of us."
From now on, all the kids will be walking with Smartwater bottles...

One of the photography sites said it was a program where celebrities visit the LA schools to speak to the children on various subjects. That's what I was asking. If that is the case, what is that program. Not sure at all it was a Smartwater campaign. That seems strange to me.

Don't believe that at all Mr. Fish! laayla

Smartwater actually has a program where they donate huge amounts of money for Children's Nutritional Programs!

I'll see if I can find it....

Action for Healthy Kids

Glaceau has guaranteed a minimum of one million dollars to the campaign. They will donate five cents from every bottle of SmartWater up to 30 million bottles sold during the campaign period.

Meg, you are right, I did read that they have a program where each month a different actor comes to the school to teach something to the kids. I would be interested in learning more about that as well: who else came to teach, what topics did they cover.

As far as Smartwater, I don't know if others have heard this commercial, but on the radio in my area, we used to get commercials with Jennifer talking about Smartwater and the initiative to improve health and fitness of the kids in schools, and that Smartwater was donating a certain amount with each purchase. I haven't had as much time to listen to the radio recently, so I don't know if that commercial is still being played, but it was played a lot over the summer.

I kinda think the principal had the right to say that. I mean firstly he is the principal of the school. Secondly , we don't know one thing about the person so I don't get why one has to generalize things. Just because you are a celebrity it doesn't give you a free pass when it comes to things like that and considering how Jen responded it seems like she took it in her stride..lol!

Thanks for the info, Kathy. Altruism and charity propably played a big part in the motivation for Smartwater to start this program, but you can't deny a commercial interest. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
