According to director Daniel Schechter, Jennifer is officially on board for Switch (no, not the one from 2010 that shocked Bill O’Reilly that we’ve arrived in the 21st century) and it will start shooting in late summer. “The cast is phenomenal so far (Jen Aniston, Dennis Quaid, John Hawkes, Yasiin Bey, Ty Burrell), with two juicy roles yet to be cast. It’s a dream project and every day I’m pinching myself that I’m going to direct it.”
About Jennifer specifically, he said, “She’ll play Margaret “Mickey” Dawson, our female lead. I just realized the other day it’ll be her first period film (it takes place in 1977), which is cool. Although she did have some sweet 80′s flashbacks in “Friends.” I’m really excited to see her in this role.”
The movie is an adaption of the Elmore Leonard novel The Switch. Quaid is set to play Jen’s crooked real estate developer husband. She’s kidnapped and ransomed by two ex-cons (Hawkes and Bey) and when the lowlife husband sees this as a way to get rid of his wife and refuses to pay the ransom, the kidnappers embrace a new opportunity: teaming with a pissed off bombshell housewife to get all of her husband’s money.
The ex-con characters, Louis Gara and Ordell Robbie, are earlier versions of the characters that appeared in Leonard’s Rum Punch, which Quentin Tarantino turned into Jackie Brown.
Miss You Already is supposed to be a comedy/drama that follows a pair of lifelong best friends whose relationship gets torn to bits when one becomes pregnant and the other sick. Paul Andrew Williams is directing and co-wrote the script with Morwenna Banks. The film will shoot in London in summer 2012. Samantha Horley, whose UK-based The Salt Company is exec producing and handling international sales, has said that discussions are underway to cast Aniston’s partner. The character will be British, the actress doesn’t have to be.
Writer-director Paul Andrew Williams is on Twitter and the latest he has been able to announce about this project is that aside from Jen, “[...] no casting news as yet but there will be a ton of announcements.”
Two other projects that are very vague and possibly more in the category of “rumors” are a comedy-heist film written and directed by Justin Theroux right now cleverly titled The Untitled Justin Theroux Project and We’re The Millers, a comedy about a pot dealer who pulls together a fake wife and two kids to pose as an RV road-tripping family so that he can smuggle 1000 pounds of pot cross country. Rawson Thurber is set to direct and Jen is “in talks” to play the fake wife, who’s actually a hooker. This movie could team her up with her friend and Horrible Bosses co-star Jason Sudeikis as he is in talks to play the pot smuggler. The script is written by Bob Fisher and Steve Faber.
While a lot of rumors are floating around about possible movie projects, not much has been confirmed yet (upcoming post will reveal more). But we have some good news! Wanderlust comes out on DVD/Blu-Ray on June 19th (2 months!), so mark your calendars because you don’t want to miss these special features!
And – what I am most excited about – WANDERLUST – THE BIZARRO CUT: 80 minutes of the film with alternate jokes in nearly every scene.
Jen is attached to star in Miss You Already set to shoot this summer. It’s a dramedy about two lifelong best friends whose relationship gets torn to bits when one becomes pregnant and the other sick. Sounds heartbreaking and intriguing! The second friend is not yet cast. Any hopes and dreams of a co-star?
